ABOUT
Roger Gracie is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor widely considered the greatest gi grappler of all time. Born into the legendary Gracie family, Roger combined his genetic gifts with an unparalleled work ethic to achieve dominance that may never be matched.
With 10 IBJJF World Championships across weight and absolute divisions, Roger's competitive record stands alone. More impressive than the numbers is how he won - with fundamental techniques executed to perfection. His mounted cross choke became legendary, with opponents unable to stop it despite knowing exactly what was coming.
Roger's game emphasized fundamentals: takedowns, mount, back takes, and basic submissions. He proved that perfect execution of simple techniques beats complex systems, a lesson that continues to influence how BJJ is taught.
As founder of Roger Gracie Academy, he continues the family tradition of excellence, teaching the fundamentals that made him the greatest competitor the sport has ever seen.
